![]() WEBSTER JOINS WILSON GOLF TOUR TEAM - English Tour star signs with record Major-winning brand. Steve Webster, the two-time European Tour winner from Nuneaton, has signed a contract with Wilson Golf that will see him play exclusively with the highly-rated Wilson Staff FG Tour irons in 2011. The man who beat Tiger Woods to the amateur Silver Medal at the 1995 Open Championship at St Andrews began playing with the FG Tour irons during the summer of 2010. After seeing the performance benefits of the clubs – which are also played by multiple Major winner Padraig Harrington – Webster has now committed to the famous golf brand. As well as playing with the full set of FG Tour irons (3-PW), Webster will have the Wilson Staff badge imprinted on his cap. His wins on the European Tour came at the Italia Open in 2005 and the inaugural Portugal Masters in 2007. He achieved nine top 20 finishes in 2008 and three runners-up spots in 2009. He also played on the winning teams in the Seve Trophy of 2002 and the 2009 Vivendi Trophy. "We are delighted to have another top quality Tour player committing to Wilson Staff irons," said Doug Wright, Business Director for Europe at Wilson Golf. "Steve has seen the performance benefits of the FG Tour irons for himself and we now hope they will help him to rise up the rankings in 2011." Webster joins a growing list of Tour players who have chosen Wilson Staff as their brand of choice for the new season. They include 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie, Englishman Anthony Wall, Sweden's Fredrik Ohlsson and PGA Tour star Ricky Barnes, who recently re-signed with Wilson Staff after noticing a marked improvement since playing with the FG Tour irons. WILSON SIGNS KEVIN STREELMAN AS ADVISORY MEMBER PGA Tour star joins Wilson Staff team after strong 2010 season. Wilson Golf, the famous brand with more Major wins than any other golf club manufacturer, has announced the signing of PGA Tour star Kevin Streelman as its newest Wilson Staff Advisory Member. The multi-year deal will see the 32-year old, who had five top 10 finishes last year, join three-time Major winner Padraig Harrington - an Advisory Member since 1998 - as well as former Open Championship winner Paul Lawrie and Englishmen Steve Webster and Anthony Wall. He also joins PGA Tour member Ricky Barnes and European Tour player Fredrik Ohlsson of Sweden on the Wilson Staff Tour Team. Streelman will play with the highly-rated Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and the Wilson Staff FG Tour wedges in tournament play, as well as carrying the distinctive red and white Wilson Staff bag and wearing Wilson Staff headwear through the 2012 season. “Wilson Golf is excited to welcome Kevin Streelman to the Wilson Golf team,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager of Wilson Golf. “Kevin is truly entering the prime of his career and we are excited to be a part of that process.” “You can’t say enough about the history of Wilson Golf and what the company has meant to the game,” said Streelman. “I look forward to great success in the future while playing the Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and am proud to represent a company with such a great legacy.” Streelman famously won the inaugural Kodak Challenge in 2009 and its 'winner-take-all' first prize of $1m having recorded the lowest score (-17) across designated holes at 30 Tour events during the season. Last year he finished 24th on the PGA Tour and 25th in the FedEx Cup standings, including notable T3 finishes at the Puerto Rico Open and The Barclays at Ridgewood Country Club where he shot a tournament-low 63. Streelman’s recent success has ensured a debut in this year’s Open Championship and US Masters, as well as a second appearance at the US Open.
